The Man Known As Dublon - 1 2

The first known case of cista dublonis was in a man who is only known as Dublon. There have been theories as to his identity and history, but none of them have been proven. He first recorded appearance was in Palikir, the capitol of the Federated States of Micronesia. The Island Tribune reported this short story on the third page of it's February 28th, 1993 weekly newspaper (translated):

February 25th, 1993

Lady Slipper DiagramSeveral sitings of a man carrying the Yap flag were reported. Eyewitnesses claim the man was riding on a giant manta ray over the land. As he flew overhead the sky would turn from the bright dark blue to a lighter blue, and then a torrent of rain would fall for precisely ten minutes. From the area that was rained on a single lady slipper grew over the next few minutes. We have included a rendition of one of these ladyslippers. We have had reports of further strange occurences from the other islands involving a man carrying the Yap flag, but not of the same sort.

While this may seem to be of little importance, just a small supersticious article in an island newspaper, the events that followed on Wake Island gave this article much importance. United States officials toured the islands trying to gather more firsthand accounts from residents who had seen the man known as Dublon after he had passed away, but most were deemed insubstantial or unreliable.
